MacBook air no image fix lvds lcd connector repair

This blog is about MacBook air no image fix lvds lcd connector repair at applefix hamilton. This MacBook came from another repair shop. It turns on with startup chime but no image at all. On close inspection we noticed MacBook logic board is liquid damaged at lcd connectors area. We removed lvds lcd connectors and find out two of the connectors of lcd completely burnt and lvds connectors and back light fuse is burnt. See in the below picture.

Checked backlight IC circuit with multimeter and it appears to be working fine. Now we have 3 things to fix. LVDS lcd connectors on the logic board , fix burnt connectors on lcd connectors ( which will be fixed by jumper wire ) and backlight fuse.

Removing lvds lcd connectors and then soldering new back on the logic board is skilled repair and involves micro soldering techniques. It is very important not to pull the lcd connectors pads other wise whole repair will be screwed.

In the below picture the arrow component is backlight fuse and if you look closely you can see it is burnt. The lvds lcd connectors removed professionally. Soldering new lvds lcd connectors and making strong joints requires micro soldering skills. Changing the fuse is not difficult if you have right tools.

Replaced lcd connectors and replaced backlight fuse. Tested all the pads connectivity with lcd connecters and all looks fine.

See in the above picture new lvds lcd connectors are placed and soldered back perfectly. The arrow sign showing on the the line on pcb burnt badly and wire jumping is done to make good joints. same kind of repair you can read an article here. If you planning to perform this sort of repair plz note you have to have schematic digram of the board and board viewer to know which line is going where on the board.
